Problems faced by Radiologists,Rad Tech and Imaging centers:

 

Many PACS are well-beyond the budget. Some require a tremendous amount of technical knowledge to understand how it operates. Some will push you to replace your existing infrastructure and replace your existing modalities for PACS to function. Most PACS require maintenance, and most vendors provide costly maintenance.

 

CT Scan, X-ray, MRI and Ultrasound are the core of the Radiology Department. Although the Radiology Department is the most profitable department in any hospital, within all this sophistication there hides numerous problems.

 

Almost all radiology equipment do not have sufficient storage space. Therefore on a regular basis images must be purged or erased so that the machine can be free to be used again. As a result most hospitals fail to maintain proper records of images. In some cases they are stored in primitive home-grown devices.

 

Modalities tend to have inefficient poor record maintenance which often causes records to be misplaced.

 

Modalities are often not compatible with other brands of modalities

 

 

Solution: The DCM System

 

As a storage: it comes with a 5TB server. Using SATA2 and Raid 6 technology it is extremely tolerant to failure. It will accept any type of DICOM image from different brands of equipment These images can be stored in this 5TB server for any length of time whereby it can be retrieved easily. These images can be stored on a temporary basis whereby you can retrieve them on demand and at lightning speed. Yet on a scheduled basis it will automatically archived all images onto DVDs where it is kept for over 7 years. Images are retrieved conveniently using numerous methods. It can be retrieved by name, ID, date of study and type of study. Retrieval is instantaneous. It can be retrieved at any station within the hospital without the use of any special equipment.

 

As a backup: it is the most reliable system that is very intolerant to failure. Our 5TB uses 12 hard disks to store information (Raid 6) giving you the peace of mind that every image that is taken from any modality is definitely transmitted automatically to the DCM. So in the event that the modality failed, you are sure that a copy has already been filed at the server end.

 

As an archiving solution: you can be sure that at a pre-set time, each and every individual image is carefully arranged and archived automatically on DVDs. The DCM will print and write automatically on the DVD. At the same time it will create and maintain an electronic record system to track these images even 10 years down the road. Our printer also allows CDs to be cut so that they may be given to patient as records.
